Do you think Europe appears as something incredibly boring, something that nobody is interested in and that wants to take over without people actually being asked? Europeers is a group of young people who are trying to fight these attitudes – so watch out!
Europeers is made up of young people have taken part in one of the programmes of the EU's Youth for Europe programmes, mostly EVS. Having returned home, they want to spread the word about the possibilities available to young people, both to go abroad and to organise projects at home. With this mind, Europeers has organised a competition to present a different approach to Europe.
“What we wanted to achieve is that people think about Europe in a different way, more from an emotional and creative point of view, to see the possibilities of diversity, of peace, communication etc. We don't want to ban everything that is critical of the European idea because this is a way of approaching the whole idea as well.” - Marion Klotz, Europeers
Last year's competition, "Building Site Europe" attracted entries from Germany, Austria, Britain and the CzechRepublic. The winners were announced at a big party in Mainz, where the winning works (and those of the other participants) were displayed to the public.
This year’s competition, entitled Express Europe is open to all young people who are aged 14-22. All you have to do is send in your ideas about Europe in texts, pictures, sculptures, songs, films and photos, etc - basically anything creative is welcome, entries from outside the EU are very welcome too!
The deadline for sending your entries is 24th May 2007. Entries should be sent to express.europe@yahoo.de or posted to:
