The XXIV EYCA conference took place in Bucharest from May 29 until June 1, 2008 and was hosted by the Romanian EURO<26 organisation.
The theme for the annual gathering was “Making the EYCA offer more valuable to young people” and this was also reflected in the key subjects: EYCA contributing to youth policy in Europe, analysis of findings from the pan-European quantitative survey, re-branding of the EURO<26 logo as well as the creation of a common cardholders’ database.
EYCA was honoured to have former Romanian President Emil Constantinescu as special keynote speaker who addressed the General Assembly. With great pleasure we also welcomed Tina Mulcahy the Executive Director of the European Youth Centre Strasbourg who addressed the participants on the Partial agreement within the framework of the Council of Europe.
The essential “member’s sharing and learning session” was packed with information about current summer events with discounts, new co-branded cards, online features on national websites, image campaigns, planned events, the preparation of an environmental project, the promotion of the interactive come2gether.net page and much more.
During its XXIV annual General Assembly also the EYCA President and Board Elections took place. The European Youth Card
Association confirmed Wolfgang Schick (Austria) as the organisation’s
President for the following three years.
The newly elected EYCA Board consists of the following representatives: Xavier Castellana (Spain, Catalunya) Angela Dato (vice-president, Italy) Walter Groenen (The Netherlands) Jarkko Lehikoinen (Finland) Milos Milenkovic (Serbia) Graeme Robertson (UK, Scotland) Mugurel Stan (Romania) Manel Sanchez Garcia (Andorra) Riivo Sinijärv (Estonia) and Jose Sousa (vice-president and treasurer, Portugal).
We
congratulate the new governing body of EYCA and wish to the President
and the Board members vision and courage in leading the organisation.
