Even though it didn’t turn out the way I expected, this is definitely the best prize I’ve ever won!! I was the lucky winner of the tickets tot the lake 07 festival and CJP in the Netherlands paid for our plane tickets to Klagenfurt. But since the festival was cancelled, EYCA gave me and my friend Anne two OBB summer-rail tickets for Austria and money towards accommodation.
The first day, we spend most of our time on airports and airplanes, but the second day the real adventure began! At the Klagenfurt train station we took the first train available and it took us to Salzburg, the city of Motzart and the sound of music. For four hours we drove through the Alps, and saw one amazing view after another, so beautiful!
In Salzburg we spent our day relaxing at the park (beautiful weather!) and shopping in the old city centre. At night we ate at a small restaurant and watched the sunset above the Salzach river. The rest of our night we spent in the hostel bar.
The next day I got to fulfill a dream that I have had for a long time: Paragliding! I always wanted to run down a mountain and fly in a parachute! We started at the Geisberg, witch is about 1km high. The view from the parachute was amazing! Mountains as far as I could see on one side, and Salzburg on the other. After about 15 minutes I landed safely on the ground.
On the third day we went to Vienna. What a great city! Lots of shops and beautiful buildings all across the city, one even more beautiful than the other. At night we had a very good meal in an Italian restaurant. After that we went back to the hostel, right on time for “cocktail happy hour” in the hostel bar. We met people from all over the world and did not go to sleep 'til early in the morning.
The next day I tried to see some more of Vienna. I went to the Dom (big old church), the Hundertwasserhaus and to an exhibition called “Dream and Trauma”. After that, I went swimming on a special “Swim-boat” in the Donau river. At the end of the day, I realized that two days don’t give you enough time to see the whole city. Too bad we have to travel on tomorrow!
The next morning we took the train back to Klagenfurt. In the evening, Anne and I watched the sunset over the Wörthersee while eating in a nice restaurant. A beautiful ending to an amazing trip!
